Eurofighter-Training – BFFT aeromotive supports Airbus Defence & Space in the development of a training system
Airbus Defence & Space has been awarded a contract by the German Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) to supply a new Maintenance System Trainer (MST) for the training of Eurofighter technical personnel of the German Air Force. The MST simulates the Eurofighter’s on-board systems for the ground crew. A unique feature of the simulation is that not only standard maintenance and repair workflows, but also complex system knowledge, such as the correct procedure for error detection, search, correction and test execution, can be conveyed realistically and efficiently. The current order is for the further development of the existing training system of the German Air Force in order to enable training in the current aircraft standard.
BFFT aeromotive supports the development of the landing gear subsystem.
BFFT aeromotive carried out an analysis of the existing subsystem requirements and determined the software requirements. In addition, a more detailed analysis of the Eurofighter system documentation was required (special instructions for troubleshooting and maintenance). To meet the subsystem requirements, the interfaces to other software components had to be coordinated (e.g. hydraulic model, 3D graphics, 2D overview diagrams of the subsystems, implementations of Landing Gear and Front Computer Software). The implementation was carried out using an existing in-house development framework and an existing model of all electrical connections of the aircraft. The development tool that has been used also required the definition and execution of module tests. Subsequently, the integration and test with 3D graphics and 2D overview diagrams for the subsystems was carried out.
